UKF’s NYC Launch Party at Hammerstein Ballroom ft. Chase & Status, Borgore [Review]

For the past few years, any fan of Dubstep is by association automatically a fan of UKF. The notorious YouTube channel featuring the most premier Dubstep will be opening a new business venture in NYC and their launch party turned out to be one hell of a night. The Hammerstein Ballroom hosted some massive dub artists this past weekend including Chase & Status, Borgore, Delta Heavy, Bare Noize, Dirtyphonics, Gemini, Alex English and more.
I arrived just in time for the start of one of my favorite artists in the genre. Borgore wasted no time in getting everyone pumped with a brand new Suavemente Trap Remix that got the crowd’s attention right away. We have been in touch with the producer of this remix (Kennedy Jones) and will have an exclusive preview up soon. I always enjoy performances by Borgore because of his ability to diversify his sets with brand new music along with his personal classics. Two heavy hitters that also caught my attention were Noisia’s remix to “Smack My Bitch Up” and Yellow Claw & Yung Felix’s remix to “Jah No Partial.” Nowadays you are seeing most dubstep artists inserting more and more trap into their sets and this performance was a testament to that. The most memorable part of BG’s set had to be when he dropped his brand new tune featuring DJ Carnage. We were lucky enough to catch a video (below) and Carnage has confirmed that it will be released sometime in 2013. Warning, this tune is massive….
Chase & Status took the stage next and immediately kept the momentum from Borgore’s set going as they began with some new up tempo tracks. The combination of fast paced dub along with the energy from the MC made their set a great one. The crowd got freaky when the boys dropped their remix to Dream Mclean’s “Network.” After C&S, Dirtyphonics did a spectacular job in closing out the night dropping bombs like Flux Pavilions “Blow The Roof” and their latest original “Need Your Love.” All in all we had a blast Saturday night and anyone in attendance would tell you the same. UKF really knows how to throw a party and we wish them luck going forward in the greatest city in the world.
