My favorite dubstep artist in the game has out done himself yet again. Datsik gives his fans two VIP trap edits for free and both are absolute bombs. He has been dropping these in his latest sets and this gift to us fans shows how much he really cares about the people who have brought him to the top. Not many artists these days have any real interaction with their followers so Troy’s actions are much appreciated within the dub community. Both VIP Trap edits to “Swagga” and “Bonafide Hustler” are both massive tunes so turn up your speakers, kick back, and enjoy.

Artist Spotlight: Datsik
To all of us dubheads, Datsik will always be considered one of the greatest to ever get into the genre even though he has only been producing dubstep for about 4 years. Troy first got into dubstep when he head his good friend Excision (who has been into dubstep far longer than Datsik) tearing it up at the festival known as Shambhala which is when Datsik says he had “converted to the darkside” and began dipping into the genre. Ever since then we have had the pleasure of listening to a true artist master the genre and take it deeper and darker than we ever knew could be possible. The following tracks are my favorite of his songs to date, each of these hard beats simply show how detailed and creative Datsik can really go. Let me know what you think of each of these throwback tunes if you have yet to hear them already and stay tuned for more from Datsik as his years of producing true dubstep are far from over.

Super You & Me @ Governor’s Island (06.16.12) [REVIEW]
This past Saturday we attended Governor’s Island for the first time this year to witness Laidback Luke throw down with his friends at his infamous “Super You & Me” party. Despite the hysteria of the ferry’s the venue proved to be one of the most enjoyable in the NYC area with the amazing nighttime view of the downtown NYC skyline. The tent may have been slightly cramped at some points but the overall production value of the event was excellent.
Diplo – Express Yourself [EP]
Finally, the moment us die-hard Diplo fans have been waiting for, the release of his newest EP. Since he had been teasing it way back in December, most of us have been itching to hear these tracks, which include collaborations with Datsik, Sabi, Elephant Man, GTA, Excision, Nicky Da B, LAzer Disk, and Billy The Gent. Just by naming the collaborations, it is easy to see that similar to most of his productions, Diplo went all out in terms of including interesting arrangements- bold, unique sounds that range from moombahton to electro, with vocals that range from reggae to rap. Not that we expected any less from the Mad Decent King. Make sure to download each track and enjoy!

Super You & Me @ Governors Island, Featuring Laidback Luke, Tommy Trash, and more! [EVENT]
For those of you who have previously attended Laidback Luke’s Super You & Me parties, either in Miami or at the occasional one in Ibiza, you know that they are one hell of an event! A superhero themed costume party with performances by Laidback Luke and friends what could be better? This summer Made Events is bringing Laidback Luke’s infamous extravaganza to Governors Island in NYC and Luke is bringing some pretty big name DJ’s to dress up and spin alongside him. This Super You & Me consists of Oliver Twist, Peace Treaty, Datsik, Tommy Trash, and of course Laidback Luke. Personally I’m looking forward to the event on June 16th and hope to see our fans there going bananas! These tickets are a pretty hot commodity so get your tickets fast before they sell out.

Zedd – Stars Come Out [THE REMIXES]
Off of Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak comes a new set of remixes to Zedd’s hit “Stars Come Out.” With some really catchy vocals, there was no doubt that these remixes would be out sooner or later. My favorite goes to the young gun Tim Mason who turns the track into a progressive house banger. Datsik gives us a dubstep remix, while Lazy Rich has his electro filled signature all over the track. John Dahlback gives us a more powerful “dubhouse” feel. Let me know which of these banging remixes you like the best. ENJOY!!
