Lollapalooza 2014 Lineup Revealed [News]

The famed festival held in the heart of Chicago known as Lollapalooza is one of the US’s most popular music festivals year in and out. What started out solely as a rock music festival, has turned into one of the more diverse music events in the country now covering rap, alternative, and electronic music. The electronic side has grown the most in recent years, with more acts, and the addition of a dance music stage just a couple of years ago. Last year saw the talent of Steve Angello, Knife Party, Steve Aoki, Major Lazer, Dillon Francis, and Dada Life. While those were not all of the electronic acts last year, there’s even more in store for this year.

Accompanying headliners Eminem, Outkast, and Kings of Leon will be two other big names: Skrillex and Calvin Harris. Additionally, Above & Beyond, Krewella, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Zedd round out the top dance music names. Additional acts include Flosstradamus, Gramatik, Chromeo, Darkside, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Gesaffelstein, Flume, Martin Garrix, and Duke Dumont. Talk about variety, what more can you ask for?

Upon this massive lineup announcement, 3-day GA tickets sold out, and all of the single day passes were gone shortly after. While we are unsure of another ticket sale at a higher price level, you may already be making plans to get your hands on a Lolla wristband in any way, shape or form. You can see the full lineup after the break below. Hope to see you there!

Duck Sauce – NRG (Skrillex, Kill The Noise, Milo & Otis Remix)

With the release of Duck Sauce’s long awaited album “Quack” just around the corner, Skrill, Kill The Noise, Milo & Otis teamed up to remix NRG, an upcoming single from their forthcoming album. Despite the melodic disco intro to the track, the remix quickly unfolds to reveal a bumping house beat that accentuates all contributing artist’s sounds into one big banger. Quack is expected to be released sometime in April and we couldn’t be more thrilled for some more Duck Sauce. Stay tuned!

Ellie Goulding & Skrillex – Because [Preview]

Ellie Goulding wrapped up her Valentine’s day mix on Annie Mac’s BBC One radio show, with “Because”, her latest collaboration with Sonny Moore, A.K.A. Skrillex. The former couple has abstained from working together since their split, but have joined forces once again on this intriguing deep house track. Far from their previous dub-step collaborations, “Because” is a more subtle single, similar to Sonny’s recent musical projects. No further information has been released regarding the collaboration as of yet, so make sure to check back for updates!

Dog Blood – ID (Jurassic) [Preview]

Skrillex is slowly becoming one of the most hyped up artists in dance music today as he embarks on his current tour with plans to release a stack of new music. One of the hardest ID’s I have heard all year comes in form of the likes of Sonny and Boys Noize better known to us as Dog Blood. This heavy hitter samples Jurassic Park with a vicious roar and has been popping up in both of their sets for the past few months. If this massive track is any indication of things to come from the two we will have a ton to look forward to. Stay tuned!

Skrillex set to takeover Brooklyn, Amsterdam, Barcelona and San Francisco in upcoming 2014 tour [News]

If you didn’t have a chance to catch Skrillex on his small North American Tour in November fear not because Sonny is back. Only this time, he will be visiting the Tri-State and Bay Areas for an extended say. The dubstep mastermind will be “Taking Over” San Francisco and Brooklyn in back to back weeks. Not only will he play multiple shows in both cities, but Sonny Moore will be playing in a different venue each night. With 6 shows out west, and then 5 shows back east, Skrillex will continue over the Atlantic to play 5 shows in Amsterdam and 4 shows in Barcelona (and yes, all different venues as well).

Skrillex certainly has made his footprint in the music industry with his successful OWSLA label, collaborations with the likes of A$ap Rocky, Kaskade and The Doors, and forming supergroups Dog Blood (With Boys Noize) and Jack U (With Diplo). Playing consecutive shows in the same city is one thing, but to play in a different venue each night is all the more impressive. From a fan’s perspective, we know each venue provides a unique experience; be it the crowd or the layout of the space.  As one of the most popular artists right now, Sonny seems to keep raising his stock by the day, and who knows just how high he’ll climb after the expected success of this tour. Tickets go on sale to the public on Friday, December 6th at 2PM EST.

Skrillex & Alvin Risk – Try It Out (TRY HARDER + NEON MIX)

The OWSLA natives and dubstep heavyweights known as Skrillex and Alvin Risk put their skills to test with the latest collaboration in ‘Try It Out’. Coming of the Neon Mix, the two go even crazier on this TRY HARDER mix as they bring the filth with this re-work reminding us of the kind of productions we would hear from the two back in the day. We anticipate a big year coming for Sonny as he continues to dish out new fresh tunes, not to mention his upcoming tour. If this collabo is any indication of things to come for Skrillex, us fans are in for a treat. Enjoy!

Chase & Status – International (Skrillex Remix) [Preview]

The king of dubstep, Skrillex has returned to his thrown with a BANG! His latest remix to Chase & Status’s “Interational” was recently premiered on BBC’s radio 1. This dubstep masterpiece is a signature Skrillex track with just the right amount of moombah to give it some extra funk. As Sonny presents a novel dubstep remix, the question as to whether he is back to dubstep for good or merely vacationing from the genre plagues his fan base. As the genre has declined in popularity throughout the past year, Skrillex has distanced himself little by little. By formulating the serious musical duo “Dog Blood” with producer Alex Ridha A.K.A. Boys Noize, and producing a number of unique electronic tracks fans were concerned Sonny may never return to where he started. However this signature Skrill dub remix has people questioning it’s degree of seriousness. I guess we will have to stick around and see what’s to come from the american born musical pioneer. Check back for a release date!

Dog Blood – Middle Finger Pt.2 (EP) [Leak]

Following their formation earlier this year and the release of their incredibly successful first EP entitled “Middle Finger” Dog Blood, A.K.A. Boys Noize and Skrillex’s musical project has exploded. Fortunately for us, their latest EP, “Middle Finger Pt. 2″ a follow up to their debut EP has just leaked. The EP includes “Middle Finger Pt.2″, “Shred Sled”, “Chella Ride” and a few remixes by Millions Like Us, The M Machine and Trapmasters. Dog Blood has become one of the most successful musical projects in the industry, within the past year and shows no sign of slowing down anytime soon. Skrillex is also rumored to have teamed up with world renown electronic music producer Diplo for an additional musical product. Keep an eye out for these two as they are sure to expand the reach of their project within the coming months.

Phuture Doom – Han Breaks (Original Mix) [Preview]

Up and coming Owsla artists, Phuture Doom recently released their break out production “Burn The Knowledge” along with a quite disturbing, yet awesome music video, and are back with more. Their unique sound is referred to as “Black Acid” a fast paced, ominously toned, mix of dubstep and heavy metal. Hailing from one of the birthplaces of house, Detroit, Michigan Phuture Doom packs quite the punch with it’s heavy, signature sound. In addition to their extremely differentiated brand of music, the duo refuses to release any information or pictures of themselves. The mysterious catch to this duo seems to be somewhat of a marketing ploy but sets them aside from other house music producers. Their latest track entitled “Han Breaks” perfectly defines their signature sound, and will be released on their upcoming EP “Nightfall” via Owsla on July 23rd.

A$AP Rocky feat. Skrillex & Birdy Nam Nam – Wild For The Night (Dog Blood Remix) [Release]

Arguably the most polarizing duo in dance music could be Dog Blood featuring Sonny Moore with Alexander Ridha and for good reason. Skrillex & Boys Noize are bringing a new sound to the industry that so direly lacks originality and they seem to have been succeeding selling out shows and festivals worldwide. This remix to Skrillex’s “Wild for the Night” exemplifies the heavy hitting style they have been showcasing in their productions and we only hope to see more from Dog Blood as an EP is well in the works.

Blawan – Why They Hide Their Bodies Under My Garage (Skrillex Remix) [Preview]

For those of you who are surprised by Skrillex’s recent transition into a new musical territory, you clearly havn’t been paying him close enough attention. For the past few months Sonny has been working alongside producer Alex Ridha A.K.A. Boys Noize, and his fellow european producers. Not only have they influenced the LA born Sonny Moore, but completely altered his entire musical production, and composition. Since teaming up with the German producer Boys Noize, Skrill has begun experimenting with slightly more melodic strains of sound, and playing different tempoed music at small gigs and performances. His last EP entitled “Leaving” reflected his desire to test the waters of a new musical genre, but was slightly overlooked by his fan base, until his essential mix which aired last Friday on BBC Radio 1. Sonny’s two hour long mix had listeners and fans in shock and awe. The newage pioneer of dubstep has opened his ears to a novel style of music, and reshaped his production techniques to adapt to it. This remix to UK techno producer, Blawan’s “Why The Hide Their Bodies Under My Garage” was aired on Friday durring Sonny’s essential mix, and has prompted a number of reactions. Stay tuned for more information on the release of this remix.

Skrillex Collaborates With NYC Clothing Brand Mishka [News]

This past Friday Owlsa announced a collaboration between Skrillex and NYC clothing company, Mishka, via Skrillex’s website. Their collaboration consists of  a handful of pieces consisting of Sonny’s logo and can be found here. Mishka recently confirmed that the song being played on the site is in fact a production by Skrill entitled “DOOMPY POOMP”. The nearly 5 minute long song consists of a compilation of odd noises and sounds but changes tempo at around 2 minutes. One of the weirder productions we’ve ever heard from Skrillex, and thats saying something.

Waka Flocka Flame To Collaborate with Skrillex, Diplo, Flosstradamus and more on ‘EDM Rap Album’ [News]

120619-wakaRapper Waka Flocka Flame, proclaimed himself as “The King of Rap EDM” during an interview with website Hip Hop DX last week. The Atlanta rap star plans to collaborate with artists such as Diplo, Skrillex and Flosstradamus amongst others. After experiencing some EDM during a trip to the South By South West event in Austin, Texas during this past March seems to have had an affect on the hip-hop icon.

“The Southby experience (SXSW), it was all EDM…Trap music. I went down there only for the ultra. That shit was crazy” said Flocka. When asked about his rumored EDM x Rap album, Waka responded by saying “It’s already in the motion. Flosstradamus, Diplo, Skrillex. Some underground people, too. I want to create a name. I’ve been doing it in hip-hop so long.”

It’s not quite clear as to when the so called “EDM Rap album” will be released, what it will be called, or who the proclaimed “underground people” are. However Flocka’s album “Flockaveli 2″ is scheduled to be released on October 5th of this year, no word on whether these EDM collaborations will be featured on it.

Skrillex takes home 3 early Grammy wins, sweeps for the 2nd straight year [News]

Jason Merritt, Getty Images
Despite the craziness that was Al Walser, no one can doubt that the Academy shows a ton of respect to our favorite dubstep-heavyweight known as none other than Sonny Moore (aka Skrillex), as he has already won Best Dance Recording and Best Dance/Electronica Album for “Bangarang” along with the Best Remixes / Non-Classical recording for his massive collaboration with Nero “Promises.” Another win for EDM came by the likes of Calvin Harris’ “We Found Love” for Best Short-Form Music Video.
This year is the second straight that Skrill has swept his categories. For fans that have been following Sonny before his popularity boom, all of this sort of seems surreal. Skrillex has astonishingly taken the “EDM” industry by storm and he shows no signs of slowing down. Lee Anderson, Tim Smith, Dave Rene, and Alvin Risk, were amongst the crew that joined the stage for his acceptance as he graciously thanked them and closed by stating that “We’re a big community, we support a forward thinking attitude.” There is no doubt that Sonny is in line for a massive 2013 as he is fresh off the heals of the new “Leaving” EP and is set to perform alongside Boys Noize as the duo “Dogblood” at Ultra Music Fest 2013 this coming March.

Skrillex – The Leaving EP [Release]

Skrillex-Leaving-FeatureSonny Moore, A.K.A Skrillex, has been making enormous & spontaneous moves in the EDM industry this past year in order to better his musical output, personal career and diversify his productions which all musical enthusiasts can respect. Touring the globe, partnering up with artist, Boys Noize to create the duo known as “Dog Blood”, putting together unforgettable original tracks and EP’s and now the creation of “The Nest”. An online insider group run, and created by OWSLA which allows for more direct access to it’s artists music. Needless to say the man is a musical genius and his uniqueness and musical talent have done the EDM industry well, and are receiving adequate praise. According to Sonny this latest EP, “Leaving” reflects how he has been feeling as of recently and is clearly way more deep and emotional than previous works. Skrill also included the following statement with the release of the EP, where he speaks about “The Nest” and the tracks on the EP, enjoy and let us know what you think!

A$AP Rocky Ft. Skrillex – Wild For The Night (Original Mix) [Release]

Skrill has been on an extremely productive track as of recently, creating his project with Boys Noize, “Dog Blood” and now this somewhat new remix with Dub legend, Nero, theres no telling what’s next on his agenda.
