Lollapalooza 2014 Lineup Revealed [News]

The famed festival held in the heart of Chicago known as Lollapalooza is one of the US’s most popular music festivals year in and out. What started out solely as a rock music festival, has turned into one of the more diverse music events in the country now covering rap, alternative, and electronic music. The electronic side has grown the most in recent years, with more acts, and the addition of a dance music stage just a couple of years ago. Last year saw the talent of Steve Angello, Knife Party, Steve Aoki, Major Lazer, Dillon Francis, and Dada Life. While those were not all of the electronic acts last year, there’s even more in store for this year.

Accompanying headliners Eminem, Outkast, and Kings of Leon will be two other big names: Skrillex and Calvin Harris. Additionally, Above & Beyond, Krewella, Sebastian Ingrosso, and Zedd round out the top dance music names. Additional acts include Flosstradamus, Gramatik, Chromeo, Darkside, Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Gesaffelstein, Flume, Martin Garrix, and Duke Dumont. Talk about variety, what more can you ask for?

Upon this massive lineup announcement, 3-day GA tickets sold out, and all of the single day passes were gone shortly after. While we are unsure of another ticket sale at a higher price level, you may already be making plans to get your hands on a Lolla wristband in any way, shape or form. You can see the full lineup after the break below. Hope to see you there!

Daft Punk represented dance music in style at the 56th annual 2014 Grammys Sunday night after taking home Record of the Year for their hit single “Get Lucky” followed by Album of the Year for “Random Access Memories.” The robots remained quiet after the wins setting the stage for both Pharrell and Paul Williams to accept with speeches on their behalf. Guy-Manuel and Thomas also put on their second TV performance ever performing “Get Lucky” to the delight of dance music faithfuls around the globe.

Other notable electronic awards which were handed out before the show went out to Zedd for the Best Dance Recording with Foxes on “Clarity” and Cedric Gervais after his massive remix to Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Sadness.” Lets hope next year is an even bigger one for dance music at the Grammys as it continues to grow and gain respect amongst the music industry’s finest artists.

holly ship

One of the most talked about electronic dance music events of the past two years, Holy Ship is back! The ship is taking on some new passengers this year with additions such as Disclosure and Baauer. Owsla front man Skrillex who was absent on last year’s voyage is now  headlining the cruise ship! But unfortunately Gesaffelstein was left out of this years lineup along with some others. However this 2014 lineup looks like it may be Holy Ship’s best year yet. The voyage begins on January 9-12th this coming January, but tickets have already been sold out. However if you are still interested in possibly acquiring a spot on the ship add you name to the wait list here.

UMF 15: Exploring Beyond The Main Stage [Review]

4-Major-Lazer12While Ultra Music Festival stacks its main stage with the elite producers in the dance music industry, every year features new sets performed at their other respective stages that truly highlight the essence of an individual’s UMF experience. Last year, I had finally popped my UMF cherry and this year I made a promise to look beyond the main stage and explore the rest of the new stages that had been prepared. The execs at Ultra made that easy with the schedules they generated. I was able to attend both weekends, and write about which sets away from the main stage had the greatest effect on my Ultra Music Festival 2013 experience.

Zedd @ FINALE NYC 1.17.13 [Review]

Finale Zedd 1.18.13 018

As soon as word got out that Zedd would be in NYC’s newest nightlife venue FINALE, I obviously jumped at the chance to him at the Lower East Side latest hot spot this past Thursday, January 17th. Zedd has been on a roll lately having just released his latest album “Clarity” a few months back, and just debuted his new music video last week for the track “Clarity” featuring Foxes. It has been quite a year for Anton as he continues to rise in the ranks of producing and a debut at FINALE spells a big 2013 for Zedd.

Zedd – Clarity [ALBUM RELEASE]

The moment Zedd began releasing remixes to Lady Gaga and consequently spreading his signature grinding “Zedd sound”, most of us knew that the German producer had promising times ahead. However, I don’t think we could have foreseen the sheer talent and diversity he would soon implement within his music. Zedd’s new album is nothing short of utter genius. Every song tells a story of it’s own, every hard drop is unexpected in the best way possible, all the vocals are gracefully brilliant, and every uplifting tune is just too damn good. The bottom line- don’t miss a track. Enjoy, comment, and share!

Nicky Romero & Zedd – Human (Original Mix) [RELEASE]

Just hearing that Nicky and Zedd put out a track together was enough satisfaction for me, what a perfect combination of producers. Their styles and use of base is very similar in many of their solo tracks so they were able to perfect it with ease, and manipulate it in a unique way for this collaboration. And what a wild track it is, but of course thats to be expected when you put these two heavy hitting electro junkies in the same studio. Zedd in particular has been on a rampage lately putting together a massive EP for his track “Spectrum” and now this collaboration with Nicky Romero, really puts him on top of the charts this week. These two still have long music making careers ahead of them and I’m sure this isn’t the last time they will collaborate on a track together.

Zedd feat Matthew Koma – Spectrum (A-Trak & Clockwork Remix) [RELEASE]

So I don’t need to remind you about A-Trak’s recent success in the past couple of months in producing electro house, as his remixes of Justice’s “New Lands”, and Martin Solveig’s “The Night Out” speak for themselves. However It seems like the extremely experienced Montreal born, producer/DJ has decided to kick it up a notch and team up with American producer, Clockwork to create this remix of Zedd’s “Spectrum”. The track possesses somewhat of a progressive vibe to it, with a electro-synth type drop. This remix shares some similarities with A-Trak’s recent work, however clockworks contribution, as well as Zedds original production, help this one stand out and make it different than what we are used to from A-Trak. This track is set to be released on July 31st along with the rest of the remixes on the Spectrum EP, however we have an early release for you guys, enjoy!

Zedd feat. Matthew Koma – Spectrum [RELEASE]

After making his mark as an Owsla regular and coming out with bangers such as “Shotgun” or “Slam The Door” that absolutely murdered Beatport charts, Zedd returns full force with a track that is soon to be released off his debut album for Interscope Records. Unlike his previous hard hitting releases, this track  starts off more melodic and is coupled with a synthy buildup made sweet by Matthew Koma’s brilliant vocals. At about the two minute mark, we are  satisfied with a  taste of Zedd’s true flavor that we all know, love, and can’t get enough of.

Release Date: June 4th

Eva Simons – I Don’t Like You (Produced By Zedd) [RELEASE]

Sorry we’ve deprived you guys of eargasms this past week, we were busy getting our grind on covering events left right and center and were in the process of preparing our coverages of Ultra and WMC, and wow do we have a lot in store! Posted the preview to this one mid Miami Music week, really stood out to me among all the other bangers I had been hearing.  This track was produced by Zedd and laced with vocals by Eva Simons, what a wild duo and very different from what were used to from Zedd. This track has an unbelievable mix between progressive and electro its absolutely wild. Huge Track, enjoy guys, shout out to Schwicity on this one!

Zedd – Shotgun (Original Mix) [RELEASE]

Brand new off of Skrillex’s label OWSLA comes a new massive electro track from Zedd called “Shotgun.” After hearing this for the first time through a preview, I didn’t really think much of it except that he could do a little better. But after hearing him play it live at Ultra, this banger has definitely swayed me! When the build is finally complete and the vocals kick in ( 1, 2, 3, JUMP!) the crowd went nuts. With this release, his production to Eva Simons new track, and a new ID track also played at Ultra, we can only expect bigger and better things from Anton. Let me know what you think and ENJOY!!

Zedd – Stars Come Out (Dillon Francis Remix) [RELEASE]

Another day, another killer Dillon Francis track. This time its to Zedd’s “Stars Come Out.” With catchy vocals and a long standing broship between Dillon and Zedd this one was bound to be given the moombah treatment. Since I am such a big fan of the movement, I easily choose this remix over the package that came out last month. I said it before and I will say it again, Dillon Francis is bound for stardom. His creative flow and swag is putting him on the same path that we saw Skrillex go through before he blew up. ENJOY!!!

Zedd – Stars Come Out [THE REMIXES]

Off of Steve Aoki’s Dim Mak comes a new set of remixes to Zedd’s hit “Stars Come Out.” With some really catchy vocals, there was no doubt that these remixes would be out sooner or later. My favorite goes to the young gun Tim Mason who turns the track into a progressive house banger. Datsik gives us a dubstep remix, while Lazy Rich has his electro filled signature all over the track. John Dahlback gives us a more powerful “dubhouse” feel. Let me know which of these banging remixes you like the best. ENJOY!!

Skrillex & The Doors – Breakn’ A Sweat (Zedd Remix)

Zedd is an absolute genius when it comes to mixing other tracks, his unique use of synth and bass seems to go well with any other beat and he knows how to get it done! He has just been crushing the game lately, “Slam The Door” is a chart topper, but that doesn’t stop this kid from producing track after track. This is a preview of Zedd’s remix of “Breakn’ A Sweat” By Skrillex ft. The Doors. I don’t care if you don’t particularly like dubstep, neither do I, but this track is a banger!

Right off of Skrillex’s label OWSLA comes Zedd’s first big release of 2012. “Slam the Door” is an electro banger with killer drop filled with Zedd’s signature style. We can only expect great things from this electro/dub producer in 2012 as he has provided us with plenty catchy singles this past year including “Shave It” and “Stars Come Out.” Enjoy and remember:

Who knew Gaga would be so popular amongst DJ’s for a remix??? Today I give you an exclusive remix bundle to Lady Gaga’s “Marry The Night.” The winner for the best remix in my opinion has to be either Afrojack or Sander Van Doorn’s. Nick brings his signature dirty dutch feel to the track while Sander gives it a lot of progressive details and yet still manages to keep it banging. Zedd’s remix is solid but too simple for my liking. R3hab is well, r3hab; and I think Dahlback really didn’t do the best he could on this one. Let me know which one you like the best!

When Deadmau5 “founded” Skrillex, people looked at him like he was even a bigger genius than before. Now Skrillex’s prodigy Zedd looks to be making Sonny look just as good. No one not even Skrillex could have predicted how big Zedd is starting to get. His latest release “Stars Come Out” off of Dimmak, gives us some amazing vocals along with his signature drop. ENJOY!

Stars Come Out (Original Mix) – Zedd

Two new banging remixes to Zedd’s “Shave it.” Both of these impressed me BIG TIME, the first has a massive drop and comes from our favorite Tommy Trash. It was first played by Steve Angello at the Escape From Wonderland festival and when you hear it you will understand why. The next is a dub like wobble filled remix from Kaskade. ENJOY!!

Coldplay – Paradise (Fedde Le Grand Remix) (PREVIEW)

In the past year house music producers have been making moves towards remixing tracks by bands and artists with unique vocals, voices and sounds to them, the most popular and unique of them all being Coldplay. After Swedish House Mafia announced that they were interested in making music with Chris Martin the lead singer of Coldplay, and then later released their remix of “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall” it seemed like it had become a fad. Avicii and other artists also began to remix the same song, as well as other similar sounding ones. This genre what ever it may be is similar sounding to a progressive sound, but seems like it is creating another of it’s own. This remix of Coldplay’s “Paradise” by Fedde Le Grand, is another track that would fit perfectly into that up and coming genre. It seems like house music fits so much better with these band’s vocals than their original mixes. Im loving this remix and im sure you will too! Enjoy!

BONUS RELEASE: Zedd comes out with his new single – Shave it. Get it on Beatport or download below. Enjoy!

Coming off “Owsla” record label, Zedd does it again with his newest electrifying track. Supported by top-tier house music influences including Skrillex and Steve Aoki, Zedd possesses the ability to create some of the most unique and hard hitting beats out there. His signature sound is perfectly reflected in his new upcoming hit, “Shave It”, and is nothing less than bone chilling; it’s almost impossible not to dance to a bomb like this one. I look forward to hearing this track absolutely ROCK the dance floor when Zedd graces us with an appearance at Roseland Ballroom. For now, I only have a preview for you guys- until then, look out for the release on October 4th.

After his success with Swedish House Mafias “Save the World” remix, Zedd returns to give us a new crazy drop filled dub track. He remixes Dan Thomas & Mab’s “This Year.” Looks like the kid is hear to stay. ENJOY

Anton Zaslavski better known as Zedd is a name to be reckoned with. Its pretty amazing that at the age of 21 he’s shocking crowds with his crazzzy remixes, beats and bass lines. He’s the prince of dub to me and were going to be hearing more and more from him in the years to come. Not to mention we have an interview upcoming with the man himself!!!

Dovregubben (Original Mix) – Zedd  - Zedds “new” single . i used em quotes because you’ve all probably heard it if you keep up to date with house music but its still gets me every time.

Scary Monsters And Nice Sprite (Zedd Remix) – Skrillex  - my personal FAVORITE zedd remix. he takes an already crazy hit by skrillex and puts his classic spin on it. try to keep up with his sounds, i dare you.
